My mum and grandad stayed in this comfy and well-located apartment once and found it ideal for their needs - just down the road from all of the shops and amenities, yet tranquil for those essential afternoon naps, and well-equipped for lots of cooking!

Les Grangettes is a two bedroom apartment on the first floor of a traditional, fully restored village house in Le Monêtier les Bains. It sits right between the pistes and the village centre so it can't be beaten for convenience!

Designed for a family of four or six people, you enter the apartment and immediately take the stairs up to the well-equipped kitchen and dining area. There are views of the village, pistes and glacier from the windows here.

The sitting room with TV is next to the two bedrooms, a bright comfortable double and a bunkbed room which is ideal for two children, young or in their teens.

There is also a large private ski locker/cellar although you can of course leave your skis and boots at the bottom of the pistes which
is even more convenient.

The shared garden is seldom used in the winter - other than when snowmen are being built by kiddies - but in spring it makes a lovely change, sitting in the sun away from the hub and usual rhythm of a ski resort.

The beautiful Cité Vauban (the old town of Briançon), a short drive from the apartment, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Why not eat in one of the town's great restaurants e.g. Lou Grand Caire, or Le Passé Simple, after a leisurely walk around the fortifications and the magnificent Collegiale church? During the day, the main cobbled street provides entertainment and a multitude of shops for non-skiers.
