Mountain Walks

Experience some of the best walks in the region. Whether you want to hike up to glaciers, traverse high mountain passes, link mountain huts, complete circular tours, or amble through forests and over easy alpine meadows. We’ll plan a great trip for you.

June to October
12 years old and above, all levels of fitness

Ice Climbing

 

Join a one-week ice climbing course, hire a guide to teach you the skills privately or challenge your ice-climbing skills to some of the best local icefalls, for example in La Grave. Your professional guide will ensure you have all of the equipment required.

December to February
12 years old and above, all levels of fitness

Via Ferrata

 

If rock climbing is not for you, but you still fancy travelling upwards in the mountains then why not try a Via Ferrata? These fully equiped aerial walkways and ladders come in all lengths and type of challenge – be it a leisurely hour’s climb or a full day’s adventure!

Snow Shoeing

Discover virgin snows, tranquil forests and spectacular panoramas with a pair of snow-shoes! Whatever your interest and fitness level, there are numerous treks and sights to experience. Enjoy fully guided walks with a professional, locally-based mountain leader.

Les Ecrins Tour

Take the famous La Grave Telepherique to 2400m, ascend Enfetchores Buttress (AD, III), cross Breche de la Meije and traverse to the Refuge Promontoire (3082m). Traverse La Meije (D+) on Thursday, finishing at the Aigle Refuge (3450m). This is mountaineering!

La Grave Glacier Skiing

In this vast wild domain, there’s great forest skiing, wide open slopes, glaciers and steep couloirs. With your UIAGM mountain guide, you’ll ski 2300 vertical metres starting from the glacier summit at 3550m through spectacular scenery. What a day!

December to May
Adults only, experienced skiers

Rafting

All-day and half-day trips on wild rivers that descend from local glaciers. The Guisane and Durance rivers provide lots of variety for all levels. We’ll organise a rafting excursion that’ll provide lasting memories of the Hautes-Alpes – don’t expect to stay dry!
